2. Contract Vote Results

posted May 26, 2015, 5:50 AM by Erin Cramer   [ updated Aug 2, 2015, 5:30 PM ]

The contract passed by a vote of 435 yes and 324 no.  That is 57% for, to 43% against.  758 people voted in all.  That is about 63% of our membership.
We had 4 people that notified us Monday that they did not receive ballots.  The voting was closed, so they didn't get to vote.  As you can see, 4 votes would not make a difference.
The ballot was sent out four different times to each member's school email address and a notification to the personal emails on file to let us know if they had not received a ballot at their school email.  There were numerous Facebook and twitter reminders, multiple emails sent through the building reps and an invitation to the building rep meeting, and four general membership meetings open to all members.  All of the information, including the entire evaluation tool, all proposed language changes to the Articles of Agreement and the proposed pay schedule for the next two school years, was posted on our website for all to review.  Many buildings held their own meetings for informational purposes.
94% of those that voted No, did so because of the money.  There are 114 different comments that I will read very carefully and definitely detail to the administration and school board members and on our website.
We have not finished our movement to reduce teacher workload, reduce student testing, have a teacher friendly school board and to respect Hazelwood teachers!!!!!  Stay connected during June and July by connecting to HNEA on Facebook and watch our website at www.hnea.org!!!!  Next school board meeting is June 16 at 6:30.  Be there at 5:30 so we can observe their workshop.
Thank you for all you do everyday.  Hopefully you can find some time to relax and enjoy.  Stay safe and healthy.
Stay tuned.
